What's new in Replai: photo broadcasts, yearly plans and conversation top-ups

A short tour of what shipped in Replai over the last few months: image broadcasts, yearly billing with monthly cap refills, cheaper top-ups on bigger plans, cap alerts and better phone capture.

Quick answer

Between May and September 2026 Replai added image broadcasts with captions, yearly plans at $209, $539 and $1,089 whose conversation caps still refill every month, top-ups of 100 conversations on any paid plan at $9, $8 or $7 depending on the plan, cap alert emails at 80 and 100 percent, better phone number capture for leads, and replies in any major language.

  • Yearly plans are $209, $539 and $1,089 — twelve months for the price of eleven — and the conversation cap still refills monthly.
  • Any paid plan can add 100 conversations, at $9 on Starter, $8 on Growth and $7 on Pro, and what you do not use rolls into the next cycle for 12 months.
  • Cap alert emails arrive at 80 and 100 percent; at the cap the bot stops replying.
  • Broadcasts can carry one image with a caption under the same ban-safe rate limits.

We ship most weeks, but we haven't written any of it down in one place since launch. Here is what changed in Replai between May and September 2026, in the order it matters to an owner running a WhatsApp number.

Broadcasts can carry a photo

Outbound campaigns now accept an image with a caption, so a "new menu", "back in stock", or "Merdeka promo" message can go out as a picture instead of a wall of text. You still import a list, write a template with merge fields, and declare where the consent came from. The image rides along with the same ban-safe rate limiting and jittered sending as a text broadcast, and STOP replies still opt the contact out automatically.

Two practical notes. Keep the caption short: on a phone the photo is what people look at, and three lines of caption is plenty. And send to a small batch first. If the replies look right, let the rest of the list go.

We wrote a separate guide on sending photo broadcasts without getting flagged.

A timeline of what shipped between May and September 2026: photo broadcasts, yearly plans, conversation packs that roll over for 12 months, cap alerts by email, phone number recovery for lead capture, per-message language detection and several smaller changes, with one item still in progress.

Yearly plans, with caps that still refill monthly

Starter, Growth and Pro can now be paid yearly: $209, $539 and $1,089 respectively, which is twelve months for the price of eleven on every plan.

The part we spent the most time on is invisible when it works: your conversation cap still refills every month on a yearly plan. Paying for twelve months upfront should not mean twelve months of allowance that you can burn in a busy quarter and then run dry. So the cycle anchor walks forward month by month from your renewal date, and each month starts with a full cap.

Conversation top-ups

Every paid plan can add 100 conversations any time, at $9 on Starter, $8 on Growth and $7 on Pro, so the rate falls as you grow. Since 11 September 2026 a pack is a balance rather than a one-month add-on: your plan’s own allowance is always spent first, and whatever is left of the pack rolls into the next cycle and keeps rolling until it is spent, up to 12 months from the day you bought it. This is the release valve for the month when a promotion lands and your inbox triples. Buy one in a busy month and the leftovers cover the quiet one, and you do not have to upgrade a plan to survive a single good month.

If you are not sure what counts as a conversation, we explained the unit here. The short version: one conversation is up to five bot replies in a thread.

Cap alerts by email

You now get an email at 80% of your cap and another at 100%. The 100% email matters: at the cap the bot stops replying until the cycle resets or you top up. Inbound messages keep arriving and are stored in your dashboard, but customers are waiting. If you see that email, the top-up button is the fastest fix.

We would rather send you a slightly annoying email than have you find out from a customer.

Why do some WhatsApp leads arrive with no phone number?

WhatsApp has been rolling out a privacy change that hides phone numbers behind an internal identifier in more conversations. For lead capture that is a problem, because a row in your Google Sheet without a number is not a lead.

Replai now recovers the number from several places: the contact sync WhatsApp sends when you pair, the message metadata when it is present, and, as a last resort, a number the customer typed in the conversation. The bot's lead-capture prompts also ask for the best number to reach the customer before logging anything. In practice most rows now carry a number.

Any major language, not just three

Voice is the part that changes the most inboxes. WhatsApp users send about 7 billion voice messages a day on average (WhatsApp, 2022), so a bot that reads text alone misses a real share of what customers send. Replai transcribes the note, detects its language and answers in that language, in text the customer can screenshot.

Earlier copy said "English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin". The model behind Replai handles far more than that, and customers in the field have been writing to bots in Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Arabic and French. So the messaging now says what the product does: it detects the language of each message, including voice notes, and answers in kind. Our multilingual setup guide covers the settings that matter.

Smaller things

  • The dashboard shows conversation usage against your cap, on the home page and on billing.
  • Outbound limits are editable in settings, within the ceilings for your plan.

Why do bot replies show stray asterisks on WhatsApp?

Chat models write Markdown by habit: double asterisks for bold, hash marks for headings. WhatsApp uses single asterisks and has no headings, so for a while customers were seeing stray asterisks in bot replies. Replies now pass through a formatter that turns the model's Markdown into WhatsApp's own inline style before sending. A small thing, noticeable every day.

What we are working on

A clearer cap-reached notice in the dashboard, and more templates for the verticals that keep signing up: clinics and helplines, pharmacies, and tuition centres.

If you are on a trial and something in this list would change your mind, reply to any Replai email. It reaches a human.

Frequently asked questions

How much are Replai's yearly plans?

Starter is $209 a year, Growth $539 and Pro $1,089: twelve months for the price of eleven, so one month is free on every plan. The conversation cap still refills every month on a yearly plan, so one busy quarter cannot burn a whole year of allowance.

What happens when you reach your conversation cap?

The bot stops replying until the cycle resets or you top up, and you get an email at 80 percent and again at 100 percent. Inbound messages keep arriving and are stored in your dashboard, so nothing is lost, but customers are waiting. Adding a Conversation Pack restores replies straight away.

Can a Replai broadcast include a photo?

Yes. Outbound campaigns accept one image with a caption, so a new menu or a back-in-stock message can go out as a picture. It uses the same ban-safe rate limiting and jittered sending as a text broadcast, and STOP replies opt the contact out automatically. Keep captions short and send a small batch first.

Which languages does Replai answer in now?

Any major language. Earlier copy named only three, but the model detects the language of each message, voice notes included, and answers in kind. Owners have seen replies in Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Arabic and French, and prices, hours and product names come from your knowledge base rather than from translation.
