7 Wati alternatives in 2026: cheaper, simpler or API-free options for small businesses

Wati's Growth plan runs $39 to $69 a month depending on your country, before Meta's per-message fees and the AI add-on. Seven alternatives compared on verified September 2026 pricing, WhatsApp connection and AI, from Respond.io and Interakt to flat-rate, API-free tools like Replai.

Quick answer

Wati's Growth plan is $39 to $69 a month depending on your country, before Meta's per-message fees and the AI add-on. If your WhatsApp is mostly inbound questions, compare Replai at $19 a month flat with no API, Tidio at $24, ManyChat at $29, AiSensy at $45, Interakt at $55 and Respond.io at $79.

  • Wati Growth is $59 annually in the US and UAE, $39 in most of Asia and Africa.
  • Wati's AI assistant is a paid add-on and Meta's message fees pass through on top.
  • Replai is $19 to $99 a month flat with AI included, but throttles campaigns by design.
  • Indian broadcasts are cheapest on AiSensy or Interakt, both marked up over Meta's rates.

Wati is a solid official-API platform for WhatsApp marketing: template broadcasts, catalogues, a team inbox and a Meta-approved connection. Its pricing is geo-based, with Growth at $59 a month billed annually in the US and UAE, $39 in most of Asia and Africa, and ₹2,199 in India, before Meta's per-message fees and before the AI add-on. If your WhatsApp is mostly customers asking questions rather than you broadcasting to them, that shape is expensive for what you use. These seven alternatives are compared on prices verified from each vendor's pricing page in September 2026 and grouped by who each one actually suits.

How much does Wati cost in 2026?

PlanUS and UAEMost of Asia and AfricaIndia
Growth$69 monthly, $59 annual$49 monthly, $39 annual₹2,999 monthly, ₹2,199 annual
Pro$149 monthly, $119 annual$99 monthly, $79 annual₹6,499 monthly, ₹4,899 annual
Business$349 monthly, $279 annual$249 monthly, $199 annual₹18,499 monthly, ₹14,799 annual

Meta's per-message fees pass through on top: in Malaysia a marketing message is about $0.086, in India about ₹0.86. Full detail in Wati pricing in 2026.

Which Wati alternatives should you compare?

Six of the seven bill the way Wati does once you send anything. Since 1 July 2025 the WhatsApp Business Platform has charged per delivered template message, whether marketing, utility or authentication, while non-template replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are free (Meta for Developers, 2025). An inbound-heavy inbox therefore costs almost nothing in message fees; a broadcast list is where the meter runs.

The prices are in the same currency. The units underneath them are not the same.

1. Replai: flat price, AI included, no API

Replai pairs to the WhatsApp number you already have as a linked device, so there is no Meta application, no verification wait and no per-message fee. Starter is $19 a month for one number and 120 conversations a cycle; Growth is $49 for up to three numbers, 300 conversations and campaigns; Pro is $99 for five numbers and 600. The AI answers from a knowledge base you control, handles voice notes and images, and follows the customer's language. New accounts answer new conversations only, so pairing a live number keeps the bot out of your existing chats. A conversation is one thread of up to five replies; top-ups are 100 conversations for $9, or $8 on Growth and $7 on Pro; the 7-day trial needs no card.

Two honest limits: it is unofficial, so a restriction is possible (how we think about that), and its campaigns are deliberately throttled, so it is not a bulk-marketing tool. See Replai vs Wati.

Pick it if your WhatsApp is mostly inbound questions and you want one flat bill.

2. Respond.io: the team-inbox upgrade

Starter is $79 a month billed annually ($99 monthly) for five users with unlimited contacts and 5,000 AI credits; Growth is $159 for ten users. It unifies WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, WeChat, LINE, SMS and web chat with assignment and reporting, which is where it beats Wati for a support team. Meta fees pass through. See Respond.io pricing in 2026.

Pick it if three or more people answer customers across several channels.

3. Interakt: Indian D2C on the API

Growth is $55 a month plus taxes for WhatsApp and Instagram with linear chatbot flows; Advanced is $69 with branching flows, API calls and auto-assignment. Interakt marks Meta's rate card up by roughly 10 to 39 percent depending on plan, and adds a separate Sales CRM at ₹2,499 a month. Details in Interakt pricing in 2026.

Pick it if you are an Indian brand that wants catalogues, payments and broadcasts on the API with rupee billing.

4. AiSensy: Indian broadcasts, AI extra

Basic is ₹1,500 a month in India or $45 outside; Pro is ₹3,200 or $99; there is a free forever tier for the API itself. The chatbot builder is a separate ₹2,500 or $80 a month, and Indian users pay about 26 percent above Meta's rate card per message. Details in AiSensy pricing in 2026.

Pick it if you send high-volume Indian marketing campaigns and can live without AI answers.

5. Tidio: website chat with WhatsApp attached

Free includes WhatsApp and 50 one-time Lyro AI conversations; Starter is $24.17 a month, Growth from $49.17, Plus $300 plus usage. Tidio is strongest as a website live-chat widget that also reaches WhatsApp through the official API. See Replai vs Tidio.

Pick it if most enquiries begin on your website.

6. ManyChat: creators on Instagram and Messenger

Free covers 25 active contacts, Essential is $14 a month for 250, Pro is $29 for 2,500 with AI conversations, Business is $69 for 7,500 and Advanced is $139 for 25,000; extra contacts are billed per head. WhatsApp runs through the official API with Meta's fees on top. See Replai vs ManyChat.

Pick it if your audience arrives through Instagram DMs and WhatsApp is secondary.

7. Trengo: European teams with email and voice

Boost is €299 a month billed annually (€349 monthly) for ten users and 500 conversations a month; Pro is €499 or €599 for twenty users. Extra conversations cost €15 to €18 per 100 and AI adds €0.25 to €0.30 per conversation. It is a mid-market shared inbox rather than a small-business tool. See 7 Trengo alternatives.

Pick it if you run a European support team that needs WhatsApp, email and voice in one inbox.

How to choose

  • Inbound answering on one to five numbers, flat bill, no API: Replai.
  • A support team across channels: Respond.io.
  • Indian broadcasts on the API: Interakt or AiSensy.
  • Website chat first: Tidio.
  • Instagram-first audience: ManyChat.
  • European team with email and voice: Trengo.

Wati is a good fit for a business that broadcasts to a large opted-in list and wants the sanctioned route with a team inbox. If that is not you, one of the seven above will cost less for the job you actually have.

Frequently asked questions

Why do businesses look for a Wati alternative?

Three reasons come up most: geo-based pricing that changes with your country, Meta's per-message fees on top of the subscription once you broadcast, and the AI assistant being a paid add-on. A small business that mainly answers inbound questions ends up paying for a broadcast platform it barely uses.

What is the cheapest Wati alternative?

For one WhatsApp number with AI included, Replai at $19 a month is the lowest flat price here, with no Meta fees because it pairs to your existing number. Among official-API tools, Interakt's Growth plan at $55 plus taxes and ManyChat's Pro at $29 are the entry points, both plus Meta's message fees.

Which Wati alternative is best for broadcasts in India?

AiSensy or Interakt. Both are Indian Business Solution Providers priced in rupees, with AiSensy's Basic plan at ₹1,500 a month and Interakt's Growth at $55 plus taxes. Both mark Meta's rate card up (about 26 percent at AiSensy, 10 to 39 percent at Interakt), so compare the per-message price, not just the subscription.

Can I use a Wati alternative without the WhatsApp Business API?

Yes. Replai connects to the number you already have as a linked device by QR, so there is no Meta application, no verification wait and no per-message fee. It is unofficial, which means a restriction is possible if a number behaves like spam, so it suits inbound answering rather than bulk marketing.

Does switching from Wati lose my WhatsApp history?

Past conversations stay in Wati's inbox; nothing on your phone is deleted. Moving to another official-API provider migrates the number between providers. Moving to a linked-device tool means taking the number back into the WhatsApp Business app first, then pairing by QR; Replai then answers new conversations only, so existing chats stay yours.
